# 1. Custom drawing template

## Want to save time and keep your CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE drawings looking sharp? Creating your own drawing template is the way to go!

### Step 1: create custom attributes (optional)

If you haven't already, you can create custom attributes (properties) to be used in your designs. This can include Project Number, Supplier name, Finish type...

It's all explained [in this article.](https://hub.xdinnovation.eu/en/knowledge/cartouche-de-mise-en-plan-solidworks)

### Step 2 : creating the template

1. Create a drawing containing a part or assembly

![new drawing basic](https://hub.ohmycad.com/hs-fs/hubfs/new%20drawing%20basic.png?width=688&height=468&name=new%20drawing%20basic.png)

2. Insert a new detail sheet

![Insert new detail sheet catia](https://hub.ohmycad.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Insert%20new%20detail%20sheet%20catia.gif?width=688&height=371&name=Insert%20new%20detail%20sheet%20catia.gif)

3. Create a table using the "Table Template" command from the "Template" tab

![table template](https://hub.ohmycad.com/hs-fs/hubfs/table%20template.png?width=654&height=125&name=table%20template.png)

4. Click a cell of the table and the "Link Template" dialog box will appear

5. Browse to find the required attribute (cf HELP below) and click insert

6. Repeat to create your desired table template containing all attributes required

HELP: Finding all the attributes you want to add can be (very) difficult. Contact us if you can't find what you're looking for!

Here are some examples to help you:

**Title, ****Revision, ****Maturity, Owner... : **Package = Core Model ; Name = PLMCoreReference

**Material: **

**Last modification date of drawing: **Package = Drafting ; Name = Drawing

**Sheet Size: **Package = Drawing & Layout ; Name = Sheet

**Scale view Package:** Package = Drawing & Layout ; Name= Sheet

**EIN (Enterprise Item Number): **Package = Enterprise Reference ; Name = Enterprise Information

**Custom properties : **Package = OtbIRPCConfiguration ; Name = XP_VPMReference_Ext

**Sheet page number:** Right click on table cell> Insert> Insert Attribute link> Sheet Number

**Released at ; Released by ; Approved by: **these are not available in CATIA, currently.

**Inserting an image:** Right click on table cell> Insert> Insert picture

7. **IMPORTANT**: rename this table

You have to **name it with the prefix "TitleBlock_"** for the table to be recognized as a template. I know, it's weird.

8. Save the drawing

Optional: freeze or release the drawing so no one can modify your template.

### Step 3 : test your template

1. Create any new drawing containing a part or assembly

2. Select "View Layout" command and select "Dress-up DS 1".

In "Title Block" section, select the magnifying glass icon to browse for your template.

3. Click "instantiate" and ok to apply the template

![Insert table template](https://hub.ohmycad.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Insert%20table%20template.gif?width=688&height=371&name=Insert%20table%20template.gif)

4. Update the values

Unfortunately, the values are not updated instantly. You must "route" the link so it displays the correct values. I know, it's a shame, but it's easy.

Right-Click and choose "**Route Link Template**" command.

### Step 4: Enjoy?

It's already saved on 3DEXPERIENCE so your colleagues can now access it too.
