1. Watch the videos

Dassault Systèmes videos hosted on MySolidWorks: they open in a new tab and a free account is enough. Watch them in order.

2. Key takeaways

1

Trim in Power Trim mode: drag the mouse across the segments to remove.

2

Dynamic Mirror: you draw half of the profile, the other half follows.

3

Convert Entities reuses an existing edge and stays linked to it: if the part changes, the sketch follows.

4

Contours let you use the same sketch for several features.

Tip

Use Offset Entities for a wall of constant thickness: a single dimension drives the thickness of the whole contour.

3. Do the exercise

Sketch the profile of a handle:

  • draw half of the contour and mirror it
  • add 5 mm fillets in the corners
  • offset the contour 3 mm inwards
✓To check: Change the offset to 4 mm: the whole inner contour follows in a single edit.
