1. Watch the videos

Dassault Systèmes videos hosted on MySolidWorks: they open in a new tab and a free account is enough. Watch them in order.

Selecting Assembly ComponentsVideo 1▶Selecting Assembly ComponentsSelect suppressed components or components stored in specific folders.↗ Organizing HardwareVideo 2▶Organizing HardwarePut components in a folder and get a summary table of the hardware.↗ Analyzing Assembly EfficiencyVideo 3▶Analyzing Assembly EfficiencyAssess an assembly and get a list of actions to improve it.↗ Generating Assembly SpeedPaksVideo 4▶Generating Assembly SpeedPaksCreate SpeedPaks at the top level and at subassembly level.↗

2. Key takeaways

1

LEO selects components based on a written criterion: suppression state, parent folder.

2

It can create a folder, put the chosen components in it and produce a table of the hardware used.

3

The efficiency analysis returns a list of actions: you decide which ones to apply.

4

SpeedPaks lighten large assemblies; LEO creates them at the top level as well as in subassemblies.

Tip

Run the efficiency analysis before creating SpeedPaks: fixing the reported issues first avoids lightening a badly built assembly.

3. Do the exercise

On an assembly with at least 50 components:

  • ask LEO to select the suppressed components
  • have the hardware put in a folder and its table generated
  • run the efficiency analysis and apply one of the proposed actions
✓To check: The hardware is grouped in a folder, the table matches the content of the assembly and one improvement action has been applied.
