1. Watch the videos

Dassault Systèmes videos hosted on MySolidWorks: they open in a new tab and a free account is enough. Watch them in order.

2. Key takeaways

1

An appearance applied at assembly level does not modify the part file.

2

The appearance hierarchy decides which one is displayed when a face, a feature and a component each carry one.

3

A multibody part can have several exploded views per configuration.

4

A walkthrough animation aligns the camera with a sketch path and is saved as an AVI file.

Tip

Keep review colors at assembly level: your parts stay neutral for the other projects that use them.

3. Do the exercise

On an assembly of your choice:

  • color three components at assembly level
  • check in the part file that the original appearance has not changed
  • create a 10 second walkthrough animation along a sketch
✓To check: The part file opened on its own keeps its original appearance, and the animation plays as an AVI.
