1. Watch the videos
Dassault Systèmes videos hosted on MySolidWorks: they open in a new tab and a free account is enough. Watch them in order.
Video 1▶Part ConfigurationsAdd configurations, suppress features and configure dimensions. In French↗
Video 2▶Modify ConfigurationsManage configurations in tables: dimensions, features, materials and components.↗
2. Key takeaways
The ConfigurationManager lists the configurations; double-click one to activate it.
A configured dimension takes a different value in each configuration; otherwise, it changes everywhere.
The Modify Configurations table shows dimensions, suppression states and materials for all configurations side by side.
A feature suppressed in a configuration stays in the tree but creates no geometry.
Tip
Before changing a dimension, check the proposed scope (this configuration or all configurations): it is the most common source of errors.
3. Do the exercise
On a screw or a spacer:
- create three configurations with different lengths
- suppress a chamfer in one of them
- configure a different material in another one with Modify Configurations
