1. Watch the videos

Dassault Systèmes videos hosted on MySolidWorks: they open in a new tab and a free account is enough. Watch them in order.

2. Key takeaways

1

DraftSight works natively in DWG format: you exchange files with your customers and suppliers without conversion.

2

Not all offerings have the same tools: 2D constraints and 3D are reserved for Premium and equivalent offerings.

3

A custom template (title block, layers, styles) saves you from setting up each new drawing again.

4

With 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight, saving to the platform lets you reserve a drawing to prevent simultaneous changes.

Tip

Create your company template once, with title block, layers and dimension styles, and set it as the default template.

3. Do the exercise

Set up your working environment:

  • create a new drawing from the supplied template
  • add your usual layers (outline, centerline, dimensions) and save it as a template
  • export a test drawing to PDF
✓To check: A new drawing created from your template contains your layers straight away and the PDF opens with no missing lines.
