1. Watch the videos

Dassault Systèmes videos hosted on MySolidWorks: they open in a new tab and a free account is enough. Watch them in order.

Entering Measurement DataVideo 1▶Entering Measurement DataEnter the measured values and spot defects with color codes.↗ Publishing to 2D PDFs, 3D PDFs, First Article Inspection Reports, and Other File TypesVideo 2▶Publishing to 2D PDFs, 3D PDFs, First Article Inspection Reports, and Other File TypesExport a ballooned 2D PDF, a 3D PDF or an eDrawings file, and an Excel report.↗

2. Key takeaways

1

The entered measurements are compared against the limits: the color code immediately flags out-of-tolerance values.

2

The ballooned 2D PDF is for the inspector; the Excel report is for the customer or quality assurance.

3

The 3D PDF or the eDrawings file shows the ballooned annotations directly on the 3D model.

4

The exported report keeps the conformance colors: a deviation stays visible even when printed.

Tip

Publish the ballooned PDF before measuring and give it to the shop: the inspector works with the same numbers as the final report.

3. Do the exercise

Complete the project from the previous lessons:

  • enter sample measurements, including two out of tolerance
  • publish the ballooned drawing as a 2D PDF
  • export the Excel report with the color codes
✓To check: The two out-of-tolerance values stand out in color in the Excel report and their numbers match the balloons on the PDF.
