1. Watch the videos

Dassault Systèmes videos hosted on MySolidWorks: they open in a new tab and a free account is enough. Watch them in order.

2. Key takeaways

1

A gusset sits between two planar faces at an angle: triangular or polygonal, with a chamfer to leave room for the bead.

2

An end cap closes an open tube, with an adjustable offset inward or outward.

3

Weld beads are displayed in the model and carried over as weld symbols on the drawing.

4

Gussets and end caps appear as separate bodies in the cut list.

Tip

Use simplified weld beads: they lighten the display while keeping the weld information for the drawing.

3. Do the exercise

On the workbench from lesson 2:

  • add a triangular gusset at each leg-to-crossbar joint
  • close the bottom of the legs with end caps
  • add the weld beads on the top frame
✓To check: Gussets and end caps appear in the cut list with their quantities.
