Prerequisite: Know how to model a simple part
1. Watch the videos
Dassault Systèmes videos hosted on MySolidWorks: they open in a new tab and a free account is enough. Watch them in order.

2. Key takeaways
A drawing is associative: if the part changes, the drawing updates, and the reverse is true for driving dimensions.
The View Palette lets you drag the standard views (front, top, isometric) straight onto the sheet.
Model Items imports the dimensions already defined in the part: less typing, and dimensions that follow changes.
A projected view stays aligned with its parent view: move the parent view, the others follow.
Tip
Dimension your part in the sketches the way you want to see it on the drawing: importing Model Items will then do most of the work.
3. Do the exercise
From a part of your choice:
- create an A3 drawing
- place a front view, a top view and an isometric view
- import the model dimensions and arrange them neatly
