This guide provides an overview of how to import data on CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE.
Importing Files Other Than CATIA
CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE supports a large range of file formats. Common file types include DXF, IFG, STEP, STL, and even SOLIDWORKS.
Steps to Import Data into CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE
- Click on the “+” at the top right of the screen
- Choose the “Import” option
- Once in the import menu, you can select the file type as well as its source, which can be either local, from a collaboration space, or your 3DDrive
Importing CATIA Files
CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE supports CATIA V5 files (CATPart, CATProduct, CATDrawing, etc.). However, you need the "Exchange Management" add-on installed on your machine. This add-on enables seamless data exchange between different CATIA versions, ensuring compatibility and preserving file integrity during the import process. You can locate this add-on directly using the compass on your platform, as demonstrated below:
Once "Exchange Management" is installed, you can use the CATIA import function by clicking on the " > " next to the import option, as shown below:
The CATIA File import also offers more options for managing imported files, as seen in the following menu:
Conclusion
With this guide, you are now equipped to import all your data into 3DEXPERIENCE, leveraging its compatibility with various file types and advanced options.
