Error 20 / 1002 when launching SOLIDWORKS (3DEXPERIENCE)

What to do when SOLIDWORKS displays error 20 / 1002: check your 3DEXPERIENCE roles and licenses, then clear the login cache.

Error 20 / 1002 usually appears when SOLIDWORKS cannot find, on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the role or license assigned to your user. The checks below fix it in the vast majority of cases.

Step 1: check your roles and licenses

Make sure the required roles and licenses are assigned to your user on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The procedure is detailed in this article: Grant and remove a Role/License.

If you are not the platform administrator, ask your administrator to run the check.

Step 2: make sure SOLIDWORKS is up to date

Make sure SOLIDWORKS is not waiting for a role update. For this, it must be fully up to date. See this article: Updating SOLIDWORKS Design.

Step 3: delete the login cache

If the roles and licenses are correctly assigned and the error persists:

  1. Close SOLIDWORKS completely.
  2. Open File Explorer, paste the following path into the address bar, then press Enter:
    %localappdata%\DassaultSystemes\DSTempWebview2
  3. In this folder, delete only the file DSYSysPrivateCookieCache.data. Leave the other files untouched.
  4. Restart SOLIDWORKS and sign in to the platform again.
